Toledo's Jim Breazeale knocked 4 HRs in the Hens first 6 games, driving in 7 runs. Breazeale has the week 1 HR lead. Springfield's Billy Williams and Richie Hebner are 1-2 in RBIs helping the Redbirds to a 5-3 start. Williams has 12 RBI, Hebner 11. Winnipeg's Mickey Lolich has 19 Ks in 2 starts for the 5-3 Whips who are looking to book back to back championships. Mike Epstein knocked 6 HRs for the Colonels this week, making that a total of 12 on the year, just one behind the category leader, Toledo's Jim Breazeale. Epstein also led all players with 11 RBI and 9 RS in week 5. Springfield's Billy Williams is 13 for his last 26 for the Redbirds who are looking to bounce back from the bottom of the North. New Orleans Nolan Ryan whiffed 23 batters in his last 16 2/3 innings for the Pelicans. Ryan has 82 for the year, and is 12 ahead of the next closest pitcher, Toledo's Steve Carlton. Toledo's Bobby Murcer had 4 HRs this week, drawing even at 26 with his Mud Hens teammate Jim Breazeale. Murcer also had 8 RBI extending his league lead in that category to 10. Hawaii's Ralph Garr is 13 for his last 23 and has upped his average to .353, still a long distance behind Albuquerque's Larvell Blanks who is now hitting .403. Charleston's Chris Chambliss had a career day against Portland on 6/28, plating 9 runs in a 15-3 victory over the Beavers. Chambliss went 3 for 4 including a Grand Slam and a 3 run HR for the Charlies.
