Richmond's John D'Acquisto tossed a 1 hitter on 4/3 in a 3-0 win over Memphis, Enos Cabell picked up the only hit for the Blues in the 5th inning, a base hit. D'Acquisto's teammate J.R. Richard also had a strong start to the season picking up 25 Ks in his 1st 2 outings earning a victory and a no decision. Louisville's Gorman Thomas has the early HR lead with 4 in week 1 and Pawtucket's Andre Thornton is batting .529 to lead all hitters. Toledo wins 10 of 12 and begins to close the gap on Springfield, now just 4 games back. Louisville's Larry Hisle is powering the Colonel's climb up the standings in the South, scoring 9 times this week and launching 4 HRs. Hisle is tied for 1st in HRs, 3rd in RS and top 10 in RBI. Toledo's Jack Clark also had 4 HRs this week, with 9 RBI. Clark leads all batters with 53 RBI and is 3rd in HR with 17. Winnipeg's Ron Guidry struck out 13 in a 10 inning 3-2 loss to Syracuse on 5/27. Even though he didn't get the W, Guidry increased his leading strikeout total to 115.
