Has anyone tried any of the other strat games - basketball, hockey, football? I was thinking of getting the basketball game download with the current 40% discount. A couple of years ago some SI writers played an all-time strat league, and I was fascinated by the writeup. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/nba/draft/ultimate/draft-results.htmlAdmittedly the NBA is my fifth favorite professional league to follow - behind two soccer leagues, actually, but the all-time aspect interested me a lot. Jordan, Chamberlain, Bird, Robertson, etc.

SOM Baseball is the tops for me, great cards and dice game and great PC Game. I do have to own up to preferring other options for Hockey, Football and Basketball. SOM takes the C&D games and translates them directly to the PC games for each, just like baseball. Personally I find the gameplay of those other games difficult on the tabletop, so being able to play them on the PC doesn't do a whole lot for me. I love the tabletop flow of Baseball so it is a homerun for me either way I play. I really enjoy Action PC sports for Football, Basketball and Hockey. Similar size player community, you can install it on as many PCs as you like, seasons are affordable, game play is fluid, interface is good, stats and reporting are strong, and game play is very deep strategically. www.dksports.com/Dave is a very good guy, responsive to the player community. BUT, and there is as always a BUT, Action PC is computer only, so for tabletop SOM is the best option that I have played. Non Baseball PC based, APC is the best. Non Baseball Tabletop, SOM is the best. Baseball Tabletop or PC, SOM is the best. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks. This is exactly the type of information I was interested in hearing.
I found some Internet posts talking about the tabletop game, and they all mentioned the difficulty. I guess there are three levels of play and it said to play the lower level until you eventually move up through.
I'll check out those other options. I still might buy the strat with the 40% discount. I'm buying the 2013 spreadsheet and I need something else to get to the mark ($35?) for the free online credit.
