Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1952/standings.htmlHighlights: NO HITTER! - Congratulations to Amarillo Gold Sox Saul Rogovin in the 2nd no hitter of the season on 8/17 in a 3-0 victory over the Hollywood Stars. Rogovin has had an up and down season for the Gold Sox but put it all together in this outing. The batting title is tightening up with Kansas City Blues Frank Baumholtz falling back to the pack and passed by Beaumont Exporters Bob Addis. The batting title is definitely up for grabs now after Baumholtz led the way almost all season. The battle for the last playoff spot is also heating up, with 5 teams within 6 games of the 4th spot. Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1952/standings.htmlHighlights: The Chattanooga Lookouts just threw down the gauntlet to the rest of the league, extending their lead from 2 1/2 to 6 1/2 games in the last week. The rest of the top 4 are backing up to the middle of the standings and anything can still happen in the final few weeks. We have a 3 way tie for the HR lead, and 4 batters are within 7 points of the batting title. There's a lot of exciting baseball left to play! Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1952/standings.htmlHighlights: Things have really heated up with 1 week to go. Chattanooga is running away from the rest of the league, the gauntlet that they tossed down last week went without a single response from the other league leaders. The Lookouts 10.5 game lead has the regular season championship locked up. CONGRATULATIONS Bill! Going from 10 games under .500 in 1951 to leaving the rest of us in the dust in 1952. All of the rest of the playoff spots are up for grabs, with 7 teams still in the running for the last 3 post season entries.
