Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1953/standingspo.htmlHighlights: The Mud Hens pitching continues to lead the way for Toledo, allowing 1 run in 20 innings over the first two games, including a very exciting 11 inning 2-1 victory over the Pelicans in game 1. Toledo won on a 2 out double by Jim Delsing driving in Chico Carrasquel who reached base on an error by 1B Steve Souchock. Curt Simmons pitched all 11 innings for the win. Amarillo and Eau Claire split their first two, with the Bears taking away the home field advantage. Amarillo's Warren Spahn was able to keep the Bears bats in check in game 1, spreading out seven hits, allowing only 1 run. A little more offense from Eau Claire in game 2 as expected, with the Bear ringing up 10 runs on 19, including 7 batters with a multi-hit game. Amarillo faced elimination in game 5 and met the challenge with a 7-1 victory over Eau Claire, led Gus Bell with 2 HR. Unfortunately the Gold Sox lost Andy Carey for the remainder of the playoffs to an injury in the victory. New Orleans also faced elimination in game 5, and came through with a 5-0 victory over Toledo to extend the series. The Pelicans got a complete game shutout from Sid Hudson and clutch hitting from Alvin Dark. Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1953/leaguefilesplayoffs/Semifinals_2.zip

Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1953/standingspo.htmlHighlights: Eau Claire advances to the World Series after a 4-1 victory over Amarillo, powered by HRs by Ted Williams and Eddie Mathews. New Orleans took Toledo to 7 games, with a 2 run rally in the top of the 9th in game 6, to win 6-5. Game 7 was a terrific 3-2 pitchers duel, with the home Mud Hens coming out on top. Toledo converted on 2 very costly Pelican errors for 2 un-earned runs, which proved to be the difference in the game and the series. The two times each scored 20 runs in the 7 games, in what turned out to be a very evenly matched semifinal pairing. Congratulations to Steve and Scott on a great season and best of luck to Rick and Jeff in the finals. Games 1 and 2 will be run tomorrow evening. Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1953/standingspo.htmlHighlights: CONGRATULATIONS TO JEFF AND HIS TOLEDO MUD HENS!!!!The Hens complete their season long domination, taking the series in 5 games. The Bears fended off the series sweep in game 4 in extra innings, but Toledo's pitching and clutch hitting was too much for them. The Mud Hens had terrific performances on the mound with Curt Simmons, Mike Garcia, and Carl Erskine each getting 2 W's in the post season, anchoring the Hens terrific pitching staff. At the plate, Chico Carrasquel batted .420 with 9 RBI and Dee Fondy hit .358 with 8 RBI and 8 RS. Eau Claire's offense stayed in gear all post season, putting up almost 5 runs per game, but their pitching got exploited in the finals and ended up allowing 6 runs per game. Ted Williams continued his torrid pace at the plate with 4 HR, 11 RBI, 8 RS and a .405 batting average. The Bears had 5 players with a OPS over .900, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Hens. Congratulations to Rick on his 1st post season appearance (and 1st World Series appearance). Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1953/leaguefilesplayoffs/Finals_1.zip
