Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1954/standings.htmlHighlights: Were back into the dog days of August! Eau Claire, Chattanooga and Louisville all have tough weeks and are falling off the pace for the last playoff spot. Toledo has gotten hot and are making a push for the post season, winning their last 7 and 10 out of their last 12. The Mud Hens Bob Porterfield may not have matched his teammate's no hitter from last week, but he is a big part of the Hens recent success, winning his last 3 starts with CG victories. Denver's Duke Snider is 17 for his last 39 and is currently on a 10 game hitting streak. Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1954/leaguefiles/Week_18.zip

Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1954/standings.htmlHighlights: Two weeks remaining and there is a great 6 team race for the 2 through 4 seeds in the playoffs. The Pelicans still have some work to do to clinch, and the race for the rest of the spots is tightening up. The Blues Bob Turley, fresh of his no hitter is now the only pitcher with 200 Ks, and may end up as the only one this season. Turley has allowed only 5 ER in his last 51 IP, with a 3-1 record (2 no decisions). Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1954/leaguefiles/Week_21.zip

Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1954/standings.htmlHighlights: The tables are set for a terrific last week of the season! Indianapolis, Amarillo, Hollywood and Toledo are all within 1 1/2 games for the last playoff position. There is only one series in the last week that put these teams up against each other so there will be a lot of scoreboard watching. All of the major individual categories are also up for grabs with the exception of RBI ( Mays), K's ( Turley), SB ( Temple) and S ( Kinder). Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1954/standings.htmlHighlights: Congratulations to the playoff teams (in seeded order): (1) New Orleans (2) Denver (3) Indianapolis (tiebreaker 10-4 vs Beaumont H2H) (4) Beaumont In an very exciting final week of the season, Indianapolis was able to separate from Amarillo, Hollywood and Toledo to make the playoffs by finishing the season on an 8 game winning streak. Beaumont was fading after getting swept at the start of the week by the Indians but was able to bounce back the final series taking 3 against Hollywood to hold on to the #4 seed. Amarillo was tied with Indianapolis and Beaumont with 3 games to go, but ran into the surging Indians and got swept in the final series of the season. Only New Orleans was able to repeat their 1953 performance in 1954 and make the playoffs. Special kudos to John and Greg on their first playoff appearance. John has his Indians playing great so Greg has his work cut out for himself. In individual season performances, we had different winners in all of the major categories (AVG, HR RBI, W, ERA and Ks). More kudos to the Indian's Willie Mays who had a "dead-ball-esque" high of 32 triples to go along with his league leading 152 RBI.
