Indianapolis' Willie Mays wrecked opponents pitching in week 1, smashing 6 HR, driving in 14 and batting .500 in 30 AB. Denver has been bitten by the injury bug, with Ted Williams, Bill Mazeroski, Chico Carresquel and Ray Boone all going down with injuries. Week 3Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1957/standings.htmlHighlights: Lookout for the Lookouts! Chattanooga is on a 7 game winning streak, 9-1 in their last 10 and have jumped out to an early season lead in the standings. The Lookouts team ERA of 3.10 is .69 lower than the next best and 1.27 lower than the league average, and have a remarkable +2.65 per game run differential (scoring 6.1 runs/game while allowing 3.45 runs/game). Denver's Ted Williams wasted no time after returning from injury, launching 5 HR and driving in 13 in 6 games. His Bears teammate Carl Furillo extended his hitting streak, Furillo now has hit in each of the 20 games this season. Week 4Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1957/standings.htmlHighlights: The Mud Hens chase down the Lookouts, putting together their own 8 game win streak, including a sweep of the Lookouts in Chattanooga. Toledo is being led by strong pitching (13 CGs) and offensive speed (1st in SBs and Triples). Bob Buhl leads the team with 5 W's benefiting from over 6 runs per game in RSUP from the Hens lineup. Hank Bauer is providing a big chunk of that offense, batting .410 with 9 HR and 26 RBI. Denver's Carl Furillo still is getting it done, now with a hit in all 24 games this season! Charleston's Marv Grissom is keeping the Senators ahead in close games, going 8-8 in save opportunities and not allowing a run in his 8 appearances. Also in late breaking news (missed highlights from Week 3), three hitters had a 3 HR game last week, Montreal's Roy Seivers on 4/17, Denver's Ted Williams on 4/18, and Louisville's Gil Hodges on 4/20. Commissioner Latorre has asked for an investigation into Rawlings manufacturing plant in St. Louis. Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1957/leaguefiles/Week_04.zip

Week 5Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1957/standings.htmlHighlights: Denver Bear Carl Furillo's hitting streak came to an end after 28 games, going 0-4 against Kansas City's Jim Wilson on 5/1. Furillo rolled on the Wilson's card in his first 3 ABs, and then in the bottom of the 9th smacked a ballpark single on his own card that needed an 8 or lower split to drop over Blues SS Joe Demaestri, Furillo drew a 14 and the streak landed in Demaestri's glove. Furillo promptly started another streak on 5/2, that stands at 4 games. Beaumont's Bob Hazle is now batting .454, with a .518 OBP and .765 SLG. Hazle has 19 multi hit games in 33 games, including 4 games with 4 or more hits, and a 5 hit game on 5/3. After Toledo's 8 game winning streak, the Hens have gone 1-5, with 3 extra inning losses. The top of the table is a log jam now, with 5 teams within 1 game of the first place Chattanooga Lookouts.
