Jim Bunning picked up where he left off in 1957, pitching a 3 hitter on 4/2 with 10 K's in a 2-0 victory over New Orleans. The strong starting pitching has the Hens off to a good start. Denver (5-8), and Wynn (1-3), are off to a rough start this year, not the typical beginning for the decade leading Bears. Kansas City and Denver teamed up in a terrific 16 inning game on May 20th, with the Blues coming out on top 4-3. Denver had plenty of chances to score, but the Blues delivered quality pitching in the clutch, stranding 15 Bears. Juan Pizarro pitched a strong 11 innings for the Blues, chalking up 13 Ks in 11 innings. Week 11Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1958/standings.htmlHighlights: Denver's Ted Williams has 7 HR and 15 RBI in his last 9 games. Injuries are keeping Williams off of the leader boards, having missed 24 games already this season. Louisville's Gus Triandos has launched 5 HR in his last 6 games and has hurdled Indianapolis' Ernie Banks for the HR lead. Toledo's Paul Foytack is logging lots of impressive innings, with 12 CGs in 16 GS, and a 1.79 ERA. Latman had a 0.75 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 48 innings in the historical 1958 season. Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1958/leaguefiles/Week_11.zip

Week 14Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1950kp/1958/standings.htmlHighlights: Montreal's Wes Covington is tearing the cover off of the ball, getting 12 hits in his last 23 ABs and driving in 9 runs. Covington and the rest of the heart of the Royals lineup ( Eddie Mathews, Rocky Covalito, Roy Sievers) have helped Montreal into second place in the standings table. Charleston may be faced with some adversity in the upcoming 2 weeks, losing their gold glove candidate SS, Roy McMillan, to a 15 game injury. The Sens will be relying on light hitting and poor fielding Ossie Alvarez to hold the middle of the infield together. Beaumont's Hank Aaron has averaged more than 2 RBI/game over his last 11 and has pulled within 3 of the league leader, the Indians Ernie Banks. Banks has been cold lately in clutch situations, with only 3 RBI over the same 11 game span allowing Aaron to reel him in.
