Some very useful new functionality has been added to the game!
SUPER HAL PINCH HITTING
Pinch Hitting vs. Standard Lefties - This pecking order will be used when determine which bench player is to be used as a pinch hitter vs. left-handed pitchers who are rated between E (which means they have even ability vs. lefty and right batters) and 9L (which means they are much better vs. lefty batters).
Pinch Hitting vs. Standard Righties - This pecking order will be used when determine which bench player is to be used as a pinch hitter vs. right-handed pitchers who are rated between E (which means they have even ability vs. lefty and right batters) and 9R (which means they are much better vs. righty batters).
Pinch Hitting vs. Reverse Lefties - This pecking order will be used when determine which bench player is to be used as a pinch hitter vs. left-handed pitchers who are rated between 1R and 9R (which means they are better vs. righty batters, which is "reverse" from the norm for lefty pitchers).
Pinch Hitting vs. Reverse Righties - This pecking order will be used when determine which bench player is to be used as a pinch hitter vs. right-handed pitchers who are rated between 1L and 9L (which means they are better vs. lefty batters, which is "reverse" from the norm for righty pitchers).
SUPER HAL PINCH RUNNING
Pinch Running - This pecking order will be used to determine which bench player is to be used as a pinch runner.
NEW LINEUP SELECTION LOGIC
In previous versions of the game Draft League Mode utilized the first four preset lineups as follows:
Lineup 1 vs. Standard Lefties - Used vs. left-handed pitchers who are rated between E (which means they have even ability vs. lefty and right batters) and 9L (which means they are much better vs. lefty batters).
Lineup 2 vs. Standard Righties - Used vs. right-handed pitchers who are rated between E (which means they have even ability vs. lefty and right batters) and 9R (which means they are much better vs. righty batters).
Lineup 3 vs. Reverse Lefties - Use vs. left-handed pitchers who are rated between 1R and 9R (which means they are better vs. righty batters, which is "reverse" from the norm for lefty pitchers).
Lineup 4 vs. Reverse Righties - Used vs. right-handed pitchers who are rated between 1L and 9L (which means they are better vs. lefty batters, which is "reverse" from the norm for righty pitchers).
As of Version 2014 the maximum number of Preset Lineups was expanded from 5 to 50. Draft League Mode has been improved to allow you to take full advantage of this. Instead of being forced to use the four lineups as mentioned above, you can now define exactly which type of pitchers you want to use each of your lineups against when using Draft League Mode. This is a major improvement for email leagues and even for replayers who wish to have more control over the lineup selection for their team.
You will notice a new section titled DLM located on the screen below the Preset Lineup drop down box. DLM stands for Draft League Mode. This mode lets you define which type of pitcher each lineup is to be used against whenever you select to use Draft League Mode in the Visitor and Home Team Lineups section of the Lineups And Usage dialog. Here are the sections you can set:
DLM Vs. - Left, Right, or N/A. Set this to "Left" to use this lineup vs. left-handed pitchers, "Right" to use against right-handed pitchers, and N/A if this lineup is not to be used in Draft League Mode.
From: / To: Set the range of pitcher's balance ratings that you wish to use this lineup against. Here are some examples to help illustrate how these fields are used:
DLM Vs: Left, From: 3L, To: 5L - This lineup will be used only vs. left-handed pitchers whose balance rating is 3L, 4L, or 5L.
DLM Vs: Right, From: E, To: 9R - This lineup will be used only vs. right-handed pitchers whose balance rating is E (even) or between 1R and 9R (see important note below which explains this).
DLM Vs: Left, From: 9L, To: 9R - This preset lineup will be used vs. all left-handed pitchers.
Important Notes
The order of balance ratings from low to high is as follows. You must always list the low value in the "From" field and the high value in the "To" field:
9L, 8L, 7L, 6L, 5L, 4L, 3L, 2L, 1L, E, 1R, 2R, 3R, 4R, 5R, 6R, 7R, 8R, 9R
Also, if there are any conflicts where multiple Preset Lineups would apply to a particular starting pitcher then the first Preset Lineup that is a match will be used. For example, if Preset Lineup number 1 is a match vs. a particular pitcher then it will always be used, even if Preest Lineup number 2 is also a match.
