Congratulations to our League Champions:
Scott Phillipe and the Amarillo Gold Sox
The Gold Sox compiled a league best 806 victories. Amarillo had 1 season championship, 2 World Series appearances and ended up in the post season 3 times.
Thanks to the 1959 Championship, Randy Newman's Louisville Colonels moved past Jeff Kloster's Toledo Mud Hens and the Commish's Charleston Senators into 2nd place!
The competition in the league was tremendous, only 7 points over 10 seasons separated the top 5 teams!
Special kudos to Mike See, rallying his Montreal Royals to 3 straight playoff appearances (1957-1959) and 2 World Series (1958 and 1959) after taking over the Eau Claire Bears in 1956.
The decade MVP and CY YOUNG poll will be posted soon, here are some of the highlights:
Warren Span - 187 W
Ellis Kinder - 150 Saves
Billy Pierce - 1752 Ks
Stan Musial - .316 AVG, 1053 RBI
Yogi Berra - 123 GWRBI
Eddie Mathews - 329 HR
