All 4 games were decided by 2 or less runs, with a total of 21 runs scored in the 4 games. The 4th game of this series is our game of the week. Week 23Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1960/standings.htmlHighlights: With a week to go, none of the playoff seeds are locked up. The top 3 teams have all clinched a post season slot, but the seeds can still change. Toledo, Denver and Montreal do not face each other over the last 6 games. In the race for the final spot, Tidewater and Portland are in a dead heat and facing the teams at the bottom of the table. Hawaii, Buffalo and Phoenix all have a punchers chance, but are facing the top teams in at least one of their final series, so the deck is stacked against them. In the " Carl Yastrzemski Sweepstakes", Charleston, Louisville and Vancouver are separated by a single game, all are facing playoff contending teams so it is a race to the bottom. Game of the Week: Playoff contending teams Denver and Portland battle for 17 innings with every game counting!Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1960/leaguefiles/week_23.zip

At the other end of the standings, Louisville "earned" the #1 pick in 1961 and Charleston ended up with the #2 pick, the result a tiebreaker with Vancouver. At the plate, Buffalo's Hank Aaron reached 50 HRs with 6 in the last week of the season to pass the Giant's Eddie Mathews (48). Mathews did hold on to the RBI title with 120, edging out Portland's Ernie Banks (118). On the base-paths Toledo's Maury Wills ended up with a remarkable 140 SBs with an .809 success rate. Hawaii's Nellie Fox is the batting champ, with a .319 average, 6 points ahead of Montreal's Dick Groat. Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1960/leaguefiles/final.zip
