Week 1

Highlights:
The Beavers takes a bite out of Richmond on opening day, scoring 3 TDs and only allowing a safety in a 21-2 victory over the Braves. Portland brought the lumber with all 9 batters recording at least 1 H, 1 RS, and 1 RBI, including the SP Bob Friend who went 4-5 with 3 RBI and 3 RS. Friend spread out 10 hits and allowed 2 runs in the complete game performance.
Toledo pitched a perfect week, going 7-0 relying on strong pitching, allowing a league low 14 runs. Vern Law and Juan Marichal are both 2-0 for the Hens, anchoring the staff.

Week 3

Highlights:
Vancouver's Bob Cerv was 4-4 with 2HR, a 2B and 7 RBI on 4/19 in the Mounties 10-6 victory over Richmond. Cerv is now #1 in HRs and RBI.
Portland went undefeated in week 3, sweeping series from from Toledo and Phoenix. The Beavers have only allowed a single run in each of their last 4 games and are now in 1st place with a +43 run diff.
Ernie Banks now has a 17 game hitting streak for the Beavers. Banks has gone without a hit only once so far this season.

Week 5

Highlights:
Phoenix's Eddie Mathews has 6 HR and 12 RBI in his last 10 games. Mathews is now tied for the HR lead and is 2nd in RBI, and is best in SLG, OBP, OPS, RC27. BB and RS.
Tidewater is on a "roll" ( get it, "roll Tides" ;-) ) and have won 8 games in a row, climbing into a tie for 1st place. 6 teams are now within 1 game of the lead, with Tidewater and Portland at 20-13 and 4 other teams at 19-14.
Portland's Bob Friend has 7 CG in 10 GS and is 6-4 for the Beavers.

Week 7

Highlights:
Montreal's Ted Williams crushed 3 HRs against Vancouver in a 6-5 victory for the Royals on 5/16. Williams went 4-4, scored 3 runs and had all 6 RBI for Montreal. His 3rd and final HR put Montreal ahead for good in the top of the 8th inning.
At the plate, Portland's Willie Mays is batting .560 in his last 25 ABs. The Say Hey Kid has 4 HR and 10 RBI during that stretch. Tidewater's Ron Hansen is hitting .447 over his last 38 ABs, smacking 6 HR and driving in 9 for the Tides.

Week 9

Highlights:
The Memorial Day weekend brought in a wave a strong pitching this week. Portland's Bob Friend has victories in his last 2 starts and is now the first pitcher to 10 wins. Friend recorded 22 Ks in those starts, both complete games. Montreal's Lindy McDaniel is 3-0 in his last 3 starts, allowing 1 ER over 24 innings. McDaniel has a 2.21 ERA and 1.04 WHIP for the Royals, but it has only translated to a 7-5 record due to a team low 3.71 RSUP.
Buffalo is taking their turn to rush to the top of the standings, winning 12 out of their last 13. The Bisons have done a great job recovering from a 4-10 start of the season and have moved into a tie for 2nd place.

Highlights:
Buffalo's Luis Aparacio stole 5 bases in a 12 inning loss to the Islanders on 6/14. Aparacio went 4-6 on the day but was stranded on base twice as Hawaii won on a walkoff single by Ruben Amaro. This is our Week 11 game of the week.
Denver's Mickey Mantle crossed the plate 5 times in the Bears 15-2 demolition of the Braves on 6/19. Mantle was 1-2 on the day with 3 walks and a HR helping the Bears score early and often on 14 hits and 6 BBs.

Highlights:
Montreal's Hank Aaron came back from the break in great form, launching 5 HRs and driving in 10 runs in 6 games. Aaron is now the league leader in HR with 31 for the 2nd place Royals.
Richmond's Jim Bunning ia 3-0 in his last 3 starts and now has 14, leading all pitchers.
Tidewater's Frank Robinson is 12 for 24 over the last 10 days and is the #1 hitter for the 3rd place Tides in OBP, SLG, OPS, H, 2B, RBI, RS, and BB.
