Week 20Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1961/standings.htmlHighlights: Be sure to watch the game of the week/season, a terrific extra inning pitchers duel between Tidewater and Portland! Charleston's Bob Gibson showed signs of what's to come later in the decade, pitching complete game victories in consecutive starts, ringing up 20 Ks (oh, and 15 BBs). Two more milestones on the mound were achieved this week, Tidewater's Camilo Pascual reached 200 Ks, which while impressive, pales in comparison to Louisville's Sandy Koufax who recorded his 300th K of the year. 400 Ks might not be completely out of the question. Denver is bringing the power, with the duo of Mickey Mantle and Jim Gentile pairing up to lead the league in Home Runs with 57 and 50 respectively. The 107 dingers are more than Louisville and Hawaii have as a team! Week 22Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1961/standings.htmlHighlights: Phoenix and Richmond are running away with this South, but the battle continues to be much closer now in the North with Denver, Portland, Buffalo, and Montreal all within 4 games of each other and only 2 playoff spots to hand out. Buffalo's Luis Aparacio is closing in on 100 SBs. With 22 games left and the Bisons in the middle of the playoff chase, every extra base he can manage will help. Aparacio needs 18 more to reach the century mark. Phoenix's Harmon Killebrew is leading the Giants offense in recent weeks, 10 for his last 28 with 6 HR and 13 RBI over the last 10 games. Portland's Ernie Banks is matching Killebrew's productivity, with 6/13 in his last 34 ABs. Denver's Mickey Mantle looks like he has the HR belt secured, now with a 7 HR lead over his teammate, Jim Gentile. Gentile has been leading the batting race for quite a while now, and has a great chance to claim the top spot for the year. Game of the Week: Montreal pulls out a 6-5 win in Portland to close to 2 games back of the 2nd place Beavers.Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1961/leaguefiles/week_22.zip
