Drysdale struck out 6 and walked 1 in the dominating performance and is now 5-3 for the Mounties. Gil Hodges launched 3 HRs for Montreal on 5/2 against Charleston. Hodges was 4-4 on the day and drove in all of the Royals runs in the 5-4 victory. Hawaii's Jim Davenport went 6-8 on 5/6 in a 17 inning game against Portland. The 6 hits raised Davenport's avg to .389, .045 points higher than the next closes batter, Charleston's Leo Cardenas. Davenport batted .297 in 1962, so the stay at the top may be short lived. Buffalo and Vancouver atop the North with 33 and 32 wins, Richmond and Louisville leading the South each with 32 wins. Buffalo has two hitters with significant active hitting streaks, Vic Power with 25 straight games and Bobby Richardson with 22. Add in Gino Cimoli, Hank Aaron, and Ken Boyer and the Bisons own 5 of the top 10 batting averages in the league. Tidewater's Bill Skowron crushed 3 HRs for the Tides in a 14 inning 9-6 loss to Louisville on 5/21. Skowron now has 11 HR in 78 ABs. In that 14 inning game, Louisville's Hal Woodeshick recorded 35 outs, the longest outing of the season so far.
