Week 22Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/standings.htmlHighlights: Charleston goes on a 6 game losing streak and falls to the basement, Senators manager/GM Rob Latorre was seen in the corner of the clubhouse muttering to himself, rocking back and forth, and wondering where it’s all gone wrong… On a happier note! Montreal’s Willie McCovey smashed his 50th HR, Richmond’s Al McBean recorded his 30th save, Louisville’s Sandy Koufax recorded his 300th K, Toledo’s Maury Wills stole his 75th base, and Louisville’s Bill White and Ed Bailey each drove in their 100th RBI. Most of the playoff positions look like they are claimed, except the 2nd place in the North which continues to be a close battle between Vancouver and Buffalo. Week 24Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/standings.htmlHighlights: Phoenix’s Jim Umbricht tossed the second no-hitter of the year, only an error by SS Jim Fregosi away from a perfect game, on 9/14 against Richmond. The only Braves baserunner was erased by a DP as Umbricht faced the minimum 27 batters and lowered his ERA to the lowest of all qualified hurlers, to 2.47. The wheels have fell off in Buffalo, with the Bisons in the midst of an 11 game losing streak, 1-13 in September, dropping to last place in the North. Vancouver has a good chance to lock up the 2nd spot with a 4 game lead currently, but the Mounties play the 3rd place Royals and 4th place Bears in their final 2 series. The South leading Louisville Colonels are also stuck on the wrong side of the results recently, losing 7 in a row and allowing Tidewater to within 3 games of the lead. The Colonels end the season with a 3 game set in Tidewater. Game of the Week: Jim Ubricht faces 27 batters, throwing the 2nd no hitter of the seasonDaily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/leaguefiles/week_24.zip
