Week 2Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/standings.htmlHighlights: After 2 weeks, only 4 games separate the best and worst records, things can change quickly when teams are this close! Louisville's Bill White is off to a terrific start at the plate. White has 10 extra base hits, including 6 HRs, 18 RBI and 15 RS, leading the league in all categories. There were lots of great pitching performances this week led by Toledo's Juan Marichal's 13 Ks against Portland on 4/11, and a pair of 1 hitters by Toledo's Pedro Ramos against Buffalo on 4/13 and Richmond's Bob Sadowski against Hawaii on 4/14. Sadowski recorded a 3-0 win in his outing, but Ramos ended up with the 1-0 loss, with the only hit allowed by Ramos being a 2nd inning HR to Jim Gentile. Game of the Week: Phoenix and Hawaii lock up in a 15 inning battleDaily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/leaguefiles/week_02.zip

Week 3Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/standings.htmlHighlights: Still only a 4 game difference between worst and first! Most interesting early season stat, Phoenix and Charleston are both 10-10. Phoenix has a +24 run diff and Charleston has a -35 (mostly thanks to a 18-2 Giants drubbing of the Senators on tax day). April 15th had a ton of great performances on the mound. Tidewater's Jim Maloney whiffed 15 Colonels in 11 innings before turning the ball over to Hal Reniff who proceeded to give up a 3 run walkoff HR to Carl Yastrzemski for the loss. On the other side of the mound in the same game, Louisville's Milt Pappas pitched the full 12 innings to record the hard earned win. Also on the 15th, Toledo's Juan Marichal pitcher a 12 inning no decision against Buffalo, before watching the Mud Hens pen give up 3 runs in the 13th for the loss. Richmond's Tommie Sisk and Hawaii's Grover Powell both went the distance in a terrific 11 inning 1-0 victory for the Islanders, also on 4/15. At the plate, Montreal's Roger Maris drove in 6 runs on 4/18 in a 14-7 win over Tidewater thanks to 2 HRs and a double. Game of the Week: Grover Powell and Tommie Sisk combine for 21 2/3 scoreless innings on 4/15 in an epic pitchers duelDaily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/leaguefiles/week_03.zip

Week 11Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/standings.htmlHighlights: Our beat reporter must have had a few to many at his favorite local establishment last week, he missed a big highlight by Montreal’s Don Mossi. Mossi pitched the first NO HITTER of the season in a 4-0 win over Vancouver on 6/3. 5 other hurlers have come close with 1 hitters this season, but Mossi is the first to complete the job. Also for the Royals, Willie McCovey is running away with the HR lead, now with 30, 11 more than the next closest slugger. Although Vancouver were victims of a no-hitter last week, their bats have woken up led by Don Mincher and Frank Robinson who have combined for 11 HRs and 28 RBI over the last 10 days. Game of the Week: Louisville ends an 11 inning contest with a walkoff HRDaily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/leaguefiles/week_11.zip

Week 12Standings - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/standings.htmlHighlights: Louisville and Tidewater appear to be the class of the league as we approach the midpoint of the season, putting space between themselves and the rest of the South and logging the two best records in the entire league. The Colonels compiled their leading 52 wins thanks to strong hitting throughout the lineup, at or near the top in all categories. The Tides are more balanced, but are 4 games back and are finding it tougher to keep up each week. Both teams are cleaning up in Interleague play with matching records of 22-12. Phoenix is trying to keep pace and have compiled an unbelievable amount of success with the bases loaded. The Giants are batting .507 with 5 grand slams and 90 RBIs with the bases full, .160 points and 27 RBIs more than the next best team. In the North, Buffalo and Portland have drawn square once again, 4 games ahead of 3rd place Vancouver. All three teams face Louisville in the next few series, so the North will have a chance to take their mark on the Colonels. The Tides and Giants are hoping for the best! Game of the Week: The Senators explode for 16 runs against the Royals.Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/leaguefiles/week_12.zip

A number of teams/players can post some impressive 162 game numbers if they can match their 1st half start in the final 81 games, on pace for: - Louisville with 4 batters on pace for 120 RS - Denver’s Orlando Cepeda – 264 Hits - Montreal’s Willie McCovey – 66 HRs - Louisville’s Leon Wagner – 148 RBI - Vancouver’s Frank Robinson – 38 HBP, 34 IBB - Toledo’s Maury Wills – 60 Es (impressive in a bad way I suppose) - Tidewater’s Jim Maloney – 36 Ws, 406 Ks - Toledo’s Juan Marichal – 388 IPs - Richmond’s Al McBean – 42 S Game of the Week: Jim Maloney records his 18th victory!Daily Recaps and League File - latorrer0.tripod.com/sombb/1960kp/1963/leaguefiles/week_13.zip
