Buffalo is staying close, just 3 games back. Louisville's Sam McDowell matched his teammates ( Ray Washburn) 12 inning outing on 7/28, in a no decision against Richmond. Week 18Standings - stratomaticnation.com/sombb/1960kp/1968/standings.htmlHighlights: Montreal continues to struggle, 1-9 over the last 10 and now in a tie for 2nd in the North with Buffalo (7-3 over that span), 3 games behind Portland. Meanwhile in the South, Louisville is running away with the division, now 7 games ahead of 2nd place Tidewater, with Richmond closing in to within 2 games of the Tides. In what is definitely turning out to be the year of the pitcher, only 4 batters are hitting over .300 and it looks like only 1 hitter will have more than 40 HRs. There is also a good chance that 3 pitchers will have 300 Ks. Game of the Week: Phoenix beats Charleston 2-1 in 13, powered by a walkoff single by Harmon KillebrewDaily Recaps and League File - available by request

Continuing the 1968 theme, 5 pitchers have sub 2.00 ERA's and still just 4 batters are hitting over .300. Week 21Standings - stratomaticnation.com/sombb/1960kp/1968/standings.htmlHighlights: Richmond begins to edge away from Tidewater in the South, opening up a 3 game lead for 2nd place. Charleston and Phoenix are both on extended winning streaks trying to claw back into the race, or at least get back to .500. Portland's performance in August has propelled them to the best record in the league, going 17-6 so far this month, the 6th and 7th thrown by pitchers this year. Portland's Cal Koonce pitched back to back 1 hitters this week. The no hit bid was ended early in an 8-0 win on 8/19 against Hawaii, but the 3-1 victory on 8/24 over Buffalo was much more exciting, with Koonce taking a no hitter into the 9th, ending on a 1 out PH HR by Bobby Tolan. Charleston's Luis Tiant is the first pitcher to 300 K's landing exactly in that mark after this weeks outing. Game of the Week: Koonce takes a no hitter into the 9th against the Bisons.Daily Recaps and League File - available by request

Toledo's Lou Brock is at 99 stolen bases and should reach the 100 milestone in the final week of the season.
