Close, but no cigar. The Stars lost 3 games by 1 run and the other by 2 runs -- which is remarkable, since we were completely shut down by Beaumont pitching. We only had 3 starters with BA over .200, which resulted in a team BA for the series of .189 and OBP of only .276.
Congrats to Beaumont -- and when does the next season start?!?

All my best to Paul and his Beaumont squad. Haddix and Lopat taking Games 1 and 2 had me very scared that a title was out of reach. The Explorers are a very good team and Haddix and Lopat (plus Gromek and Maglie) are going to keep him contending for years.
And on to 1953...
