Hollywood Stars are tied for 3rd in runs scored, even while being near the bottom in every batting category. Must be the exceptional managing! :-)

I learn something new every season it seems!
In 1952 and 53, Ted Williams was mostly out of baseball serving in the Korean War (he also missed multiple season in the 40's serving in WW II).
His '53 numbers were gigantic! He batted .407, with 13 HR and 34 RBI in 91 ABs, with a 1.410 OPS. Seriously! Prorate that to 600 ABs and you end up with 85 HR and 224 RBI.
You can consider that he wouldn't have kept up that pace for the 500 more ABs, but he put up these numbers after getting only 12 ABs in 1952.
WOW!

Johnny Antonelli is 1-8. In his 8 losses, the Pelicans have scored a total of 5 runs. The Pelicans have been shut out four times and scored one run three (3) times. When the Pelicans came through with two runs for him in his other loss, the bum gave up three runs to blow his chance at a win.

I am looking for a new pitching coach and a new hitting coach. 9 of my 10 pitchers are under performing (5 of them significantly under performing with a WHIP of +0.4 or greater from their card stats) and 9 of my 15 hitter are under performing. We lost 12 in a row where we were outscored by a combined 61-21 (with 5 of those in 1 game). Any recommendations?
Fortunately the press isn't screaming for my head on a platter (at least not yet), but there are grumblings in the organization that maybe this general manager isn't all he was advertised to be.

Is anyone interested in trading for Hank Sauer for the 1954 season? 41 HR, 0.288 Avg, 0.942 OPS. I am interested in a number of things, so if you have an interest, make an offer and we can negotiate from there.

Everyone wants the Hammer. I read when Aaron was chasing Ruth someone put a letter in the mail that just said THE HAMMER on the envelope and it was delivered to Hank.

The rumors are swirling in Chattanooga. If the Lookouts fail to make the playoffs, changes may occur throughout the organization. The Chattanooga media is repoorting that the manager and general manager could be in trouble if the postseason occurs without them. And the pitching coach has already been heavily criticized in the media; defending Cy Young winner Joe Dobson and major acquisition Bob Feller have not lived up to expectations, and the heat hass gone past them and to the coaching staff from media and fans alike. People are beginning to wonder if 2nd-year CF Mickey Mantle will become a team leader offensively. We see glimpses of star results to go with his star-type talent, but doubt is creeping in. Fans and media have openly questioned the decision to go with Mantle instead of McDougald (or Minoso) in the 1951 draft. The front office has also been unable to have consistent play or personnel at 2b and ss, with many players at those positions the past few years: Eddie Stanky, Davey Williams, Johnny Temple, Virgil Stallcup, Sibby Sisti, Willie Miranda, Eddie Pellagrini, and more. It could get messy in Tennessee soon.

Even Walter Winchell got into the baseball chatter today. He challenged the Hollywood Stars on his radio show, about the fact that they had to defend the playoff berth that had seemed so secure only a few days ago. He noted that the Stars are finishing up the season at Beaumont and suggested that if the Stars can't beat the last-pace team, then they don't deserve to be in the playoffs!

Beaumont only plays well in even numbered years. 1950 (lost championship), 1951 sucked, 1952 (lost championship), 1953 sucked, 1954...watch out, Klu, Jackie Robinson, and company are loading up with a big-time draft ahead that will have serious repercussions on the future of the Beaumont franchise. The scouts across the league have agreed that this upcoming draft and the '51 draft were the two years that are the deepest with big-name talent. Let's see if the Exporters can weave a little magic into this upcoming draft and produce a winner for years to come.
